I wanted to get a posterised effect of these poppies so I put the photograph into photoshop and went into filter gallery and selected posterisation. I then printed off a black and white A4 print and added 1cm square grid with a biro. I chose the Langton 300g rough watercolour paper and scaled up the grid to get an accurate outline sketch. I then painted in the area where I wanted to mask off, using blue masking fluid, I use blue as I can see where I have masked off. Once I have rubbed off the masking fluid I continued to paint the base colours in and started shading with coloured penclis And then continue painting in the details layer by layer, here is the finished painting.
